C. Internal valve view in SEM. A central strutted process (csp) is visible on the externally raised portion of the valve face, their number is typically one to three for this species. The labiate process (lp) is visible on the valve face and usually occurs singularly in this species. The marginal strutted process can be seen, occurring on every second to fourth costa. Scale bar equals one micron.
