D. Internal SEM of valve mantle. Two marginal strutted processes are visible on a valve mantle. The marginal strutted processes have three accessory pores located around the primary pore. The structure of the central strutted process is similar to the marginal strutted processes. Both the marginal strutted processes and the central strutted processes have an accessory pore cowling that covers each accessory pore and fuses to the primary pore. Scale bar equals one micron.
